'The Stalker' Poster design

This is my group's design for a quickly thought of horror movie. 'The Stalker' is a slasher film about a pyschopathic man seeking revenge on the group of women who bullied him at school. It could be said that he is a mysoginist who gets pleasure and a form of sexual release from killing women with his knife, which could be phallic symbol representing male power.
We chose to make our poster black and white to emphasise the hints of red which connote blood and death, as well as sex, which are the main themes in the film. The low-key lighting on the image creates a sense of  sinister suspicion of the unknown, as there is nothing to give away the 'Stalker's appearance other than his sharp pointed claws which suggest he is almost not human and leaves the audience's imaginations running wild. We chose to make the eyes of the girl blue in order to emphasise the fear in them.
We decided to include the sterotypical characters of the 'female victim' and the 'final girl'. The female victim dies first and gets her throat slit just after she has had sex. She is blonde, with a good body, skimpy clothing and a fake tan. The female survivor, who is shown on the poster, is attractive in a more subtle way and shows intelligence by fighting off the Stalker's repeated attempts to attack her and  eventually manipulating him into following her in to a trap set up by the police. However, the film ends with everybody at the police station panicking because a prisoner has managed to escape, we are left with the assumption that this is of course, The Stalker, as the majority of horror films are left with open endings.
Overall, I think that our plot idea did lack originality and is not an idea I would want to use for my actual trailer as a result. However I think that the poster we created met the plot's criteria well.
